Exploring New York City with Rachel Elizabeth Interiors

New York City, the city that never sleeps, is a destination that captures the heart and imagination of every traveller. From the hustle and bustle of Times Square to the serene beauty of Central Park, NYC has something for everyone. Our recent trip to this vibrant city was filled with unforgettable experiences. Here’s our guide to making the most of your visit.

Where to Stay

Choosing the right accommodation is key to a great NYC experience. Here are two of our top picks:

Kimpton Hotel Theta - If you want to be right in the heart of Midtown and super close to Broadway, the Kimpton Hotel Theta is your spot! This stylish hotel has luxurious rooms that are perfect for relaxing after a day of exploring the city. Plus, it's just a steps away from Broadway's iconic theatres.

The Crosby Street Hotel - For those looking to stay downtown, this hotel offers a chic and cosy atmosphere in the SoHo district. It’s perfect for those who want to explore the stylish boutiques and eateries in the area.

Getting Around

Navigating New York City can be daunting, but it's part of the adventure. The three easiest modes of transportation are:

Uber - Convenient and comfortable, Uber is a great option for getting around the city, especially if you’re traveling in a group or want to avoid the crowds.

Subway - The subway is the fastest way to travel across the city and an essential NYC experience. It's economical and operates 24/7, making it a reliable choice for getting to your destinations quickly.

Walk - One of the best ways to experience NYC is on foot. Walking allows you to see a lot more and truly soak in the city’s vibrant atmosphere. Whether you’re strolling through Central Park, exploring the neighbourhoods, or simply wandering around, walking gives you a unique perspective of the city.

Where to Eat

NYC is a food lover's paradise, and our trip was no exception. Here are some of our favourite spots:

The Crosby Bar - Located at The Crosby Street Hotel, this is the perfect place for drinks and dinner. The ambiance is elegant, and the menu offers a delicious array of dishes.

Blue Dog Restaurant - Situated in Midtown, this is an ideal spot for a pre-theatre meal. The food is fantastic, and the location is perfect for those planning to catch a Broadway show.

Bluestone Lane - For a coffee break, Bluestone Lane is a must-visit. Their coffee is exceptional and provides the perfect pick-me-up during a day of exploring.

Our Breakfast Picks:
- Jack's Wife Freda - A café known for its delicious and hearty breakfast options.
- Egg Shop - Specialising in egg-centric dishes, this spot is a breakfast haven.
- The Butcher's Daughter - A favourite for its healthy and delicious breakfast menu.

Lunch

La Mercerie - For a leisurely lunch, La Mercerie in SoHo is a fantastic choice. The French-inspired cuisine and beautiful setting make it a perfect midday stop. Make sure you order one of their signature chocolate chip cookies and check out their homewares store located at the back of the restaurant.

Where to Go

NYC is brimming with attractions. Here are some must-visit spots:

The Metropolitan Museum of Art (The Met) - The Met is one of my absolute favourite places in New York City! It's not just one of the world's largest and finest art museums—it's a cultural treasure trove that you could spend days exploring. From ancient artefacts to modern masterpieces, there's something to fascinate everyone. And trust me, you don't want to miss the rooftop. The views over the city skyline and Central Park are absolutely breathtaking!

Shopping in SoHo - Ready to treat yourself? SoHo's got it all—beautiful boutiques, designer stores, and unique shops. This district has something special for everyone.

DUMBO - Short for "Down Under the Manhattan Bridge Overpass," this area offers stunning views of the Manhattan skyline and a beautiful riverside park.

Walk along the High Line - One of my favourite things to do in NYC is strolling along the High Line. This elevated park, built on a historic freight rail line, offers such unique city views and beautiful gardens. Grabbing an ice cream from Chelsea Market and taking a leisurely walk along the High Line is the perfect way to enjoy a sunny afternoon in the city.

SUMMIT One Vanderbilt - For the best view of the city, head to this observation deck. The panoramic views of NYC are truly amazing.

What to Wear

Exploring NYC requires comfort and style. The Willow Dress in Emerald Green from our new collection is perfect for getting around the city. It's chic, versatile, and ideal for transitioning from day to night. Pair it with comfortable walking shoes and a light jacket for the unpredictable New York weather. This dress ensures you look chic whether you’re shopping in SoHo or dining at The Crosby Bar.

New York City is a city that has it all – history, culture, cuisine, and fashion. We hope this guide helps you make the most of your visit. Enjoy your trip and embrace everything the Big Apple has to offer! xR
